The NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) is a specialized unit responsible for the care of premature, critically ill, new-born infants. The NICU at link hospital, Gwalior provides advanced care to infants that are ill, premature or in the need for special medical attention. Birth defects, Down Syndrome, congenital anomalies and paediatric surgeries are just a few of the medical needs of these infants.
Our multidisciplinary team includes paediatricians, neonatologists, allied health professionals and respiratory therapists. It’s well-equipped with a Neonatal Advanced Life Support System that includes life support machines, fatal monitor, ventilator, high-frequency ventilation (HFOV), therapeutic warming device, and phototherapy units. The paediatric intensive care unit can treat new-borns in various clinical conditions – premature birth, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH), low birth weight.
